Q4 2020 Trend: Immediate Delivery Autonomous Forklifts

Fewer than 2% of forklifts sold in North America are automated, yet there has never been a greater need for this technology. Many manufacturers are looking to automate material handling processes because it reduces the potential for COVID-19 exposure by reducing human contact.

Brain Corp Raises $36 Million to Meet Growing Demand for Autonomous Robots

Brain Corp, an AI company creating transformative core technology in the robotics industry, today announced it has raised $36 million in Series D funding to help meet the growing demand for autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) now on the front lines of the COVID-19 health crisis.

6 Ways Robotics Can Help Protect Our Oceans

Technology advances have touched almost every industry and process - even those under the seas. Today, experts have robots helping oceans through satellite systems, low-cost sensors, big data and more.

Deep Learning Enables Real-Time Imaging Around Corners

Researchers used deep learning to create a new laser-based system that can image around corners in real time. The systems might one day let self-driving cars "look" around parked cars or busy intersections.

Where Is The Industry Leading In Terms Of Autonomous Car Tech?

With the rising enhancement in technology, the autonomous car industry is flourishing day-by-day. Along with the behemoths in the automobile sector, various tech firms in the industry are brainstorming to launch their autonomous cars.

Industry Develops Realistic Future for Autonomous Cars

The good news is progress is being made as the industry's best minds address each issue when it comes up. The one thing we can say with confidence is that tomorrow's vehicle will run on data...tons and tons of data which is comforting for flash industry people.

What People Really Think of Autonomous Cars

The vision of fully driverless and connected traffic is just as exciting to some as it is worrisome to others: are self-driving cars safe enough without any human involvement?

Flexibility of Mobile Robots Supports Lean Manufacturing Initiatives and Continuous Optimizations of Internal Logistics at Honeywell

Three mobile robots from Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR) are helping Honeywell Safety & Productivity Solutions keep its manufacturing processes lean and agile and optimizing workflows by automating the transfer of materials throughout the facility.

The Shift to Driverless Trucks Will Open Up Fulfilling Careers

Tests over the past five years around the globe show that autonomous trucks can be efficiently/effectively deployed now for standard environments but are not ready to handle such things as inclement weather, construction zones and similar issues.

Domino's® and Nuro Partner to Bring Autonomous Pizza Delivery to Houston

Domino's and Nuro are joining forces on autonomous pizza delivery using the custom unmanned vehicle known as the R2. The global leader in pizza delivery will use Nuro's unmanned fleet to serve select Houston Domino's customers who place orders online later this year.

Mapless Autonomous Driving

Mapless autonomous driving is essentially what it sounds like-self-driving without reliance on HD maps. It works by creating "mini-maps" on the fly as a result of deep learning.

Autonomous Vehicles Could Improve Urban Mobility and Mitigate Pollution

New automotive technologies, followed by the growing trend of autonomous vehicles on our roads could improve urban mobility in the future and mitigate the negative environmental impact of conventional transportation.

Swift Navigation Case Study: Left Hand Robotics

The challenges around outdoor snow removal are two-fold. First, businesses and commercial sites must keep walkways and pathways clear for safety reasons and they face a labor shortage of those willing and able to do such incremental work.

Why Software will win the Race for Autonomy

Freedom to operate is vital and it takes on new meaning in the sphere of vehicle autonomy. To drive mass adoption of autonomy, you need to build vehicle software that enables any vehicle to operate in any environment, with zero dependence on external systems.

3D Vision: Ensenso B now also available as a mono version!

3D Vision: Ensenso B now also available as a mono version!

This compact 3D camera series combines a very short working distance, a large field of view and a high depth of field - perfect for bin picking applications. With its ability to capture multiple objects over a large area, it can help robots empty containers more efficiently. Now available from IDS Imaging Development Systems. In the color version of the Ensenso B, the stereo system is equipped with two RGB image sensors. This saves additional sensors and reduces installation space and hardware costs. Now, you can also choose your model to be equipped with two 5 MP mono sensors, achieving impressively high spatial precision. With enhanced sharpness and accuracy, you can tackle applications where absolute precision is essential. The great strength of the Ensenso B lies in the very precise detection of objects at close range. It offers a wide field of view and an impressively high depth of field. This means that the area in which an object is in focus is unusually large. At a distance of 30 centimetres between the camera and the object, the Z-accuracy is approx. 0.1 millimetres. The maximum working distance is 2 meters. This 3D camera series complies with protection class IP65/67 and is ideal for use in industrial environments.
