Innovators offered chance to develop their ideas with world leading robotics manufacturer ABB Robotics

New industrial robotics accelerator launches today ---- The IdeaHub connecting robotics innovators worldwide with ABB Robotics - leading manufacturer of industrial robots, ---- Applications can be submitted online via: http://www.theideahub.co.uk/challenges.html until 7th July 2015 ---- Winning applicants can receive funding, development support and access to industrial robots to further develop their ideas

London, U.K. - 7 May 2015 - You live and learn, but robots do neither. Are you the one to change that? Innovation platform The IdeaHub is recruiting robotics innovators worldwide to take up a unique opportunity to pitch their ideas to world leading industrial robotics manufacturer, ABB Robotics.

The IdeaHub connects innovators worldwide with funding and support from global corporations and is now seeking new ideas and technologies in the cutting edge field of industrial robotics. For this challenge, the IdeaHub is working with ABB Robotics, whose breakthrough new collaborative robot, YuMi, is changing the way robots and humans work together thanks to its inherently safe design.

The IdeaHub is accepting applications which fit within any of three great challenges for the future of robotics: how to simplify robotics, how to enable robots to learn and apply that learning and finally, solutions that can address the evolving robot ecosystem.

The IdeaHub platform launches today and is open for applications until 7th July 2015. Successful applicants will get the chance to pitch their ideas directly to ABB Robotics at an IdeaHub event in August 2015. The best pitches will get an offer which can include funding, access to robots, technology and commercial support as appropriate to the needs of their business.

Simon Blair, from the IdeaHub said, "This is a great opportunity for robotics innovators and entrepreneurs around the world to collaborate with a leading robotics company and take their idea to the next level. Are you looking for funding for your robotics idea or venture? Could you benefit from access to industrial robots for testing or proof of concept? Then we want to hear from you."

Applying to the IdeaHub takes a few minutes and only requires information already in the public domain.

3D Vision: Ensenso B now also available as a mono version!

This compact 3D camera series combines a very short working distance, a large field of view and a high depth of field - perfect for bin picking applications. With its ability to capture multiple objects over a large area, it can help robots empty containers more efficiently. Now available from IDS Imaging Development Systems. In the color version of the Ensenso B, the stereo system is equipped with two RGB image sensors. This saves additional sensors and reduces installation space and hardware costs. Now, you can also choose your model to be equipped with two 5 MP mono sensors, achieving impressively high spatial precision. With enhanced sharpness and accuracy, you can tackle applications where absolute precision is essential. The great strength of the Ensenso B lies in the very precise detection of objects at close range. It offers a wide field of view and an impressively high depth of field. This means that the area in which an object is in focus is unusually large. At a distance of 30 centimetres between the camera and the object, the Z-accuracy is approx. 0.1 millimetres. The maximum working distance is 2 meters. This 3D camera series complies with protection class IP65/67 and is ideal for use in industrial environments.
